Programme and method

A structured, motivating programme adapted to every age

Our method, developed over more than ten years, is based on a simple idea: every child can make progress in music, provided they are given a stimulating, caring and structured framework.

From age 5

Young students are welcomed in small groups, with a teacher trained in our pedagogy.

A piano for each child

Each child plays on their own digital piano and progresses at their own pace.

A reassuring setting

Musical games, nursery rhymes and singing are integrated into the lessons to awaken the ear and build autonomy.

Active pedagogy

For all children: active and progressive learning

Our lessons are designed to encourage concentration, regularity, musical understanding and the pleasure of playing.

  • Concentration
  • Regular practice habits
  • Musical understanding
  • The pleasure of playing

Alternating playing and listening

Each child learns to listen, play, observe and correct themselves progressively.

Progress at each student’s pace

The group provides energy, while the teacher gives individual guidance to each child.

Confidence through music

The aim is not only to learn the piano, but also to develop confidence and autonomy.

Piano lesson for children at Piano Académie
Piano lessons for children at Piano Académie: a structured, dynamic and individualised group setting.
Collective energy

A powerful group dynamic

Lessons take place in groups of 2 to 6 children maximum. This format allows each child to benefit from individualised follow-up, a spirit of mutual support and positive stimulation.

  • Individualised attention within the group
  • A spirit of mutual support
  • Motivation through shared energy

This collective dynamic helps our students achieve real results quickly, while keeping the pleasure of playing at the centre of the learning process.

Teenagers

For teenagers: lessons adapted to everyday life

Teenagers need a setting that respects their rhythm, their taste in music and their growing need for autonomy.

  • Flexible schedules, with special sessions at 7 p.m.
  • Pieces selected to motivate and challenge students, while respecting their musical tastes.
  • A group dynamic designed to encourage motivation, emulation and the pleasure of progressing together.
Benefits

The benefits of the programme

Our Mission & Philosophy

"It's essential that the quality of education is maintained from the earliest age."

Introduction to piano lessons

For the past 6 years, Piano Académie has been offering 2-year introductory music courses. Since January 2022, we have set up a piano initiation course for children over 4 years old. After several months of operation, we note that the course likes the children and gives very encouraging results. We propose for this year 2022 – 2023 to open an introductory piano course for children who will be 4 years old on October 1st 2022. The course lasts 1 hour with 30mn of musical awakening and 30mn of initiation to the piano in group.

Awakening to music classes for 3 and 4 year olds

Open since 2016, our school’s musical awakening classes introduce children to the world of classical music at an early age.

Children quickly discover musical instruments, the great classical composers and the different styles (ballet, opera, orchestral music, …).

.
The classes are composed of 3 and 4 year olds. We want to give them a taste for my music, to help them develop their imagination and their listening skills. All instruments are given pride of place so that later on they can choose their favorite instrument by themselves.

Adults
Piano lessons
for everyone

A method designed for adults

Adults, just like children, need to see immediate results. There’s no question of waiting 5 years to be able to play a waltz by Chopin!

Mi-Young LEE has thus perfected her learning method to enable anyone to play a major work from the classical repertoire very quickly.

How many times has she heard, “I’m too old to start,” “I don’t have time to spend two hours a day,” etc.?

Play your favorite tune straight away!

The first step is to choose with the student the first piece he wants to learn to play. Here, there is no pink method or other simplified pieces.

Our philosophy

It's never too late to start!

Cours particuliers de piano

An Effective Method for All

Our teaching philosophy is based on the idea that anyone can learn to play the piano.
  • Moderate Progression: Pupils learn progressively, making sure that each stage is mastered before moving on to the next . .
  • Concrete example: You could, for example, interpret a Nocturne by Chopin in less than three months, a feat made possible thanks to our structured method..

No need to practice for hours

Contrary to what you might think, you don’t need to spend several hours every day:
  • Regularity Before Quantity: Just 15 to 20 minutes of regular exercise a day can lead to amazing results.

Age is No Obstacle

Learning the piano as an adult has its own challenges, but also its advantages:

  • Adaptation to the Repertoire: The classical repertoire is vast and offers pieces adapted to all levels of speed and dexterity, allowing everyone to find works that correspond to their abilities and preferences..

Testimonials and Successes

We have seen many students succeed in reaching their musical goals, confirming that our method works, regardless of age or starting point.

Some also prefer to focus on a particular sport. Again, no problem. You are here to have fun. That is the main thing. Our job and our expertise are then to help you progress quickly.

Still not convinced? Take a class with one of our students at the Academy. Discuss, exchange ideas. Nothing can replace the experience of those who have gone before you!

Students are invited to give their first concert after one year! It is not compulsory, but it is highly recommended!

Excellence at the piano, year after year

At Piano Académie, we believe that music can transform a child’s life. Since 2018, we have offered young pianists the opportunity to take part in international competitions in a stimulating and supportive environment, for children who wish to progress quickly and deeply.

Our aim is not to form a closed elite, but to give every talented, committed and curious child the opportunity to go further, while being supported with seriousness, tact and humanity.

Our vision

Competitions are never an end in themselves. For children, they become a school of concentration, posture, musical presence and maturity. Excellence is built here with depth, regularity and sensitivity.

Our school is the fruit of a passion and an ambition: to offer personalised teaching that has often been lacking, causing disappointment and premature abandonment of piano learning. Our teaching philosophy is based on 4 main pillars, creating a unique piano learning experience.

Pleasure at the centre

At PIANO ACADEMIE, we believe that music should be a source of joy. That’s why we put the pleasure of playing at the heart of our teaching.

Public performances

PIANO ACADEMIE gives its students the opportunity to showcase their talent in public right from the start, through auditions and performances in hospitals, retirement homes and railway stations

.

Rapid progress

To maintain the enthusiasm and momentum of our students, we are committed to encouraging their rapid progress.

Awakening to musicality

We harness our students’ imaginations to work on musicality from the start of their journey, transforming each note into a vibrant story.

PIANO ACADEMIE aujourd’hui

Thanks to these achievements, PIANO ACADEMY has proudly emerged as the leading private piano school in Paris. With sustained growth each year, we are determined to continue improving and innovating in piano education. Our mission remains the same: to provide high-quality musical education to our students and help them discover, nurture, and celebrate their love for the piano.

A living method

A piano education based on pleasure, attention, imagination and visible progress.

Learning the piano differently

The Mi-Young LEE Method is built around a simple idea: a student progresses better when the lesson is both structured and inspiring. Technical work, musical expression, listening skills and motivation are brought together from the very beginning.

The objective is not only to teach notes, but to help each student enter a real artistic journey, with confidence, curiosity and pleasure.

A method for children and adults

The method is used with very young children, children from age 5, teenagers and adults. It adapts to each age while keeping the same spirit: clarity, musicality, regular progress and the joy of playing.

Piano Académie offers group lessons, online lessons, music theory, adapted sheet music and musical culture activities to support this progression.

Five principles that make the difference

The Mi-Young LEE Method is based on five essential principles: pleasure, visible progress, imagination, public performance and the intelligent use of technology.

1

Pleasure first

Each lesson is designed as a lively, joyful and motivating musical experience.

2

Visible progress

Learning becomes more exciting when the student feels that they are moving forward.

3

Imagination and musicality

From the first notes, students are encouraged to develop artistic expression.

4

Playing in public

Auditions, concerts and musical events allow students to share music from the beginning.

5

Modern tools

Digital materials, videos and interactive tools support a modern and effective learning experience.

Courses for every age

The method accompanies students from the first musical discoveries to more structured piano practice.

From age 3

Early music discovery

Playful musical awakening, piano discovery and introduction to great composers.

From age 4

A first structured approach to the instrument in a group setting.

From age 5

A young child learning piano at Piano Académie

From what age can a child begin?

Four years old is often an ideal age to start piano, provided the child can concentrate enough to enjoy the lesson.

Young children: how the lessons are built

For very young children, Piano Académie forms homogeneous groups so that every child feels comfortable during the lesson. The aim is to create a reassuring environment where concentration, musical curiosity and the pleasure of playing can gradually develop.

  • Groups adapted to the children’s age and level
  • A lively lesson structure that helps children stay focused
  • A first approach to piano through sound, movement and imagination
  • A framework that encourages children to enjoy regular musical practice

Why group lessons?

It is often assumed that a private lesson is more effective than a group lesson. This may be true for older students, but our experience shows that for children under 12, the group creates a positive form of emulation.

In a group, children concentrate better, find additional motivation and are encouraged to persevere when they meet the natural difficulties of learning the piano.

Group energy

Children progress individually while benefiting from the motivation created by the group.

Using the whole keyboard

Children are often taught to play only in the central part of the keyboard. The Mi-Young LEE Method encourages each child to explore different areas of the piano. In this way, the child’s ear becomes familiar with the full range of the instrument.

A musical ear is not only something one is born with. It is something that can be educated, refined and developed through experience.

Listening to the whole piano

Children discover the different registers of the instrument from the beginning.

Developing the ear

The method helps students associate sound, gesture and musical intention.

Moving on the keyboard

Children learn that the piano is a large musical space, not only a central position.

Building musical confidence

Exploration helps children feel more comfortable with the instrument.

Adapted sheet music

Piano Académie produces its own sheet music. The pieces are carefully selected and adapted to make children’s learning easier, more progressive and more motivating.

For each semester, a volume is proposed. This allows students to follow a clear and structured progression.

Music theory

Playful and progressive exercises help children quickly become autonomous in reading the two essential clefs used in piano learning.

Piano Académie has adapted the TAKADEMI method and now uses it as a foundation for learning. The school has also developed card games that allow children to learn music theory while having fun.

Learning while playing

Interactive tools and card games help children understand music theory with more pleasure.

Musical culture

From a very young age, we want children not only to love classical music, but also to connect great works with the composers who created them.

We believe it is important for children to discover the lives of great composers, so that their curiosity can continue at home with their parents.

  • Discovering the great composers
  • Associating works with stories and musical periods
  • Developing curiosity beyond the piano lesson
  • Building a deeper love of classical music
