Piano recital
On Sunday, April 12 at 5 pm, Piano Académie is delighted to welcome pianist Ana Gabriela Fernández for a recital entirely devoted to Frédéric Chopin’s Four Ballades. This exceptional programme brings together one of the summits of the Romantic piano repertoire and promises an evening of great poetic and musical intensity.
Through these four works, Chopin unfolds a world of rare richness, where narrative breadth, dramatic tension, intimate poetry and virtuosity intertwine. From the dark and passionate surge of the First Ballade to the striking depth of the Fourth, this cycle forms a vast musical journey, at once free, contrasted and profoundly inspired. Brought to life by a pianist of strong artistic sensitivity and intellectual depth, this evening offers an immersion into one of the absolute masterpieces of the piano literature.
A Mexican pianist trained in Havana and at UNAM, Ana Gabriela Fernández has developed a path in which artistic depth and musicological reflection advance hand in hand. Winner of the Musicalia International Competition, she has appeared as a soloist with several major Mexican orchestras. She has worked with internationally renowned pianists including Maria João Pires, Gabriela Montero and Lilya Zilberstein, and was also accepted into the École Normale de Musique de Paris in the class of Pierre Réach. Her musicological work, recognised with two Cubadisco Awards, explores the intersections between music, culture and Latin American thought.
