Piano Recital
Piano Académie is pleased to welcome pianist Ana Gabriela Fernández for two recitals entirely devoted to Frédéric Chopin’s Four Ballades, on Saturday, April 11 at 8:00 PM and Sunday, April 12 at 5:00 PM. This exceptional programme brings together one of the pinnacles of the Romantic piano repertoire and promises two evenings of remarkable poetic depth and musical intensity.
In these four works, Chopin reveals a world of rare richness, where narrative breadth, dramatic tension, intimate poetry and virtuosity are woven together. From the dark, impassioned drive of Ballade No. 1 to the profound and striking depth of Ballade No. 4, this cycle forms a vast musical journey, at once free, contrasting and deeply inspired. Shaped by a pianist of refined sensitivity and rigorous artistic vision, this evening offers an immersion into one of the absolute masterpieces of the piano literature, presented here in two performances in Paris.
A Mexican pianist trained in Havana and at UNAM, Ana Gabriela Fernández has developed an artistic path in which interpretative depth and musicological reflection progress side by side. Prizewinner of the International Musicalia Competition, she has appeared as a soloist with several major orchestras in Mexico. She has worked with internationally renowned pianists including Maria João Pires, Gabriela Montero and Lilya Zilberstein, and was also admitted to the École Normale de Musique de Paris in the class of Pierre Réach. Her musicological work, recognised with two Cubadisco Awards, explores the connections between music, culture and Latin American thought.
